Baking Christmas biscuits is a great way to introduce your children to the kitchen. Not only is it a great way to unleash your children's creativity, but it's also a great opportunity for family bonding time filled with smiles and delicious homemade sweet treats!

230g room temperature butter.
175g icing sugar.
1 large egg (room temperature).
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt.
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add egg and extract and mix well.
Sift flour and salt together, add little by little to wet mixture until well incorporated. Chill the dough in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Roll, emboss and cut biscuits into desired shapes, sprinkle with flour if necessary. Once you have your cut biscuits, put them back in the fridge for an additional 10-15 minutes to chill, this is crucial to achieve the best possible pattern.
Bake biscuits at 190C for 8 minutes.
* Do not bake with self-rising flour or biscuits with baking powder/bicarb as the dough will rise too much.
* Wash before first use and dry.
*To extend the life of the rolling pin, apply baking oil before and after use.
*to achieve a very detailed pattern, make sure the consistency of the sponge dough is right, add more flour if necessary. For best results, start by rolling your dough between two baking sheets using an ordinary rolling pin. Take a baking sheet and roll with our embossed rolling pin to achieve a detailed pattern.
* When making shortbread, add a spoonful of cornstarch to your dough. Chill the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes before rolling and afterwards to best retain the shape.
*Not suitable for the dishwasher.
